National Rural and Remote Health Awards

The National Rural and Remote Health Awards were inaugurated at Parliament House in Canberra by Rural Health Pro in 2023, to celebrate the work of healthcare professionals who serve remote and rural communities. Rural Health Pro is a social enterprise of RDN – The Charity for Health Access.

The Awards have quickly become a highlight of Rural Health Month, which was established by Rural Health Pro in 2020 as a series of multidisciplinary training and networking events aimed at showcasing and supporting the invaluable contributions of rural health professionals, while providing opportunities for them to connect and learn together. 

"Healthcare is so much more than just about treatment. It is education, it's prevention and management, it's project planning and execution, it's communication and collaboration, innovation and so much more," the Governor-General told nominees at the 2024 Awards in Canberra. "Yours are not just jobs, but vocations of care. Your work is essential to the wellbeing of all Australians and the prosperity and progress of our nation."
