28th September 2026
Recognised as one of the most established and highly regarded events in the rural health calendar, the Rural GPs Conference is fast approaching and it’s time to register before it’s too late.

“I enjoy the Rural GPs Conference because you get to meet like-minded people and discuss cases - and you feel you’re not the only one alone in the world out in the rural community,” - Dr Di Coote, Warialda.

Recognised as one of the most established and highly regarded events in the rural health calendar, the Rural GPs Conference is fast approaching and it’s time to register before it’s too late.

Hosted by Rural Doctors Network and the Rural Doctors' Association of NSW, with the support of NSW Health, the Conference will be held from 27-28 November at Hilton Sydney.

“For almost four decades, this conference has brought together the people who form the backbone of rural healthcare: GPs, rural generalists, visiting medical officers and the teams who support them,” Dr Michael Holland said following last year’s Conference.

Aimed at supporting the rural GP workforce through targeted education, peer connection and wellbeing initiatives, the Rural GPs Conference will also provide upskilling in key areas such as dermatology, mental health, dementia care, obesity management and culturally safe healthcare.

Joining the conference is a line-up of industry experts and delegates including the National Rural Health Commissioner Jenny May AM, who will deliver an address and facilitate a panel discussion on ‘Effective Approaches to Workforce Challenges’.

Dr Patricia Overvliet from Wagga Wagga, who attended the last conference, commented that “…every session and every workshop that I went to was completely relevant to my practice.”

Designed specifically for rural general practice in a family-friendly environment, the conference is often credited by attendees for combining practical clinical education with something equally important: the opportunity to recharge, connect with colleagues who truly understand the realities of rural medicine and return to your community refreshed, inspired and supported!
