Recent prescribing reforms sees big interest in ADHD Masterclass

30th March 2026

With ADHD prescribing reforms here, 41 GPs took part in the ‘Managing ADHD across the lifespan’ workshop (which is the first of two ADHD workshops being offered in the first half of the year by RDN Health, with another workshop planned in South Western Sydney in May to be hosted by RDN Health).

RDN_Article_Image_CaptionsBorders_(81).pngGP and Associate Professor John Kramer shared his knowledge and more than 30 years’ experience in ADHD management, advocacy, and medical education with participants, offering up-to-date guidance, case-based training, and practical strategies to respond with confidence.

RDN's Lindsey Eifler, Manager, Conferences & Events, says that while the Rural GPs Refresher Conference is typically the highlight of the weekend, she was not surprised that there was also so much interest in the new ADHD Masterclass given recent prescribing reforms.

“Associate Professor Kramer took questions and offered his expert advice on prescribing practices and reform updates and a number of doctors have already commented how valuable this part of the weekend was for them,” she said.

Widely respected in his field and captivating the room with his expertise, John has been an Other Designated Prescriber (ODP) for three decades and said: “It’s great to see that there is rapidly increasing interest and awareness in general practice of the existence of ADHD and the affects it can have on the development of children.  By early detection and intervention we can achieve huge improvements in the life trajectories of these children.

“In return for a relatively small effort we can achieve significant benefits not only for the individual and their families but the whole of society. I have found working with this cohort of patients can be extremely satisfying and one of the greatest rewards I have experienced from my 48 years working as a doctor.”
