Diabetes workforce take part in workshops to upskill and further support their patients

18th August 2025

Last week, two Diabetes Education Workshops were held in Dubbo and Broken Hill in an effort to strengthen the clinical and educational skills of health professionals supporting patients living with diabetes.

The impactful and hands-on training workshops were free for participants, and part of a collaboration between the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), the Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council, and the Care Partnership – Diabetes (CP-D) program.

Care Partnership – Diabetes (CP-D) is a leading regional program which supports improved access to clinical services, professional development for healthcare practitioners, GP practice and ACCHS-led service delivery, and broader health system improvements.

A huge thank you to presenters Ms Wendy Bryant and Dr Shannon Lin from UTS and Tamarla Smith, Tenayah Kelly and Aunty Grace Ward from Diabetes Australia for sharing their expertise, insights and cultural awareness.

Did you know? Care Partnership – Diabetes (CP-D) is a collaboration between the Western NSW Local Health District, the Far West Local Health District, the Western NSW Primary Health Network and RDN, and is already having tangible impacts - learn more here.
