Award category spotlight: Rural/Remote Health Professional of the Year

Nominations are open for the third National Rural and Remote Health Awards hosted by RDN's Rural Health Pro as part of Rural Health Month in November. With ten categories open for nomination, this week we are shining a spotlight on the Rural/Remote Health Professional of the Year Award.
The Rural/Remote Health Professional of the Year Award recognises a healthcare practitioner - including, but not limited to, medical, nursing, midwifery, allied health, dental and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health professionals - who has demonstrated exceptional commitment, leadership/mentoring and dedication to improving rural and/or remote health outcomes.
Mandatory criteria:
- Nominee must be an individual.
- Demonstrate cultural responsiveness.
- In areas designated between MM3-7 of the Modified Monash Model classification system.
All rural, remote and regional communities now have the opportunity to showcase this work and the #ruralpositive stories that can be found in rural and remote health by nominating today.

Presentation of the Awards will take place on Ngunnawal country at the National Press Club of Australia, in Canberra, on Wednesday 5 November 2025.
