From personal experience to professional impact: Jenni McDonald’s mission to tackle diabetes in Indigenous communities

Aboriginal Health Practitioner, Jenni McDonald is pursuing her goal of becoming a Diabetes Educator thanks to support from the Health Workforce Scholarship Program (HWSP).

HWSP is an initiative of the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing and is administered in NSW by RDN. HWSP provides scholarships and bursaries to help health professionals in rural and remote Australia. 

Diabetes is an area of healthcare that holds deep personal significance for Jenni, as her family has a strong history of diabetes. 

Working in the Chronic Disease Team at the Maari Ma Aboriginal Health Corporation in far west NSW, Jenni shared her story with the team at Rural Health Pro.
