Award category spotlight: Rural/Remote Aged or Disability Carer of the Year Award

This week, Rural Doctors Network is shining a spotlight on the National Rural and Remote Health Awards’ newest category for 2025: Rural/Remote Aged or Disability Carer of the Year Award.
The Rural/Remote Aged or Disability Carer of the Year Award recognises an individual or team for providing outstanding care to the elderly or people with disabilities, including those experiencing mental health challenges.![]()
These professional caregivers improve the quality of life of individuals in the rural and remote communities they serve by providing care that shows empathy, compassion and respect for people of all cultural backgrounds.
Mandatory Criteria
- Nominee is a team or individual.
- Demonstrate cultural responsiveness (see following).
- Activities must have taken place during the period July 2024 - June 2025
- In areas designated between MM3-7 of the Modified Monash Model classification system.
All rural, remote and regional communities now have the opportunity to showcase this work and the #ruralpositive stories that can be found in rural and remote health by nominating today.

Presentation of the Awards will take place on Ngunnawal country at the National Press Club of Australia, in Canberra, on Wednesday 5 November, 2025.
