RDN attends Practice Manager Development Days in Nowra and Canberra

04th April 2025

Rural Doctors Network (RDN) Medical Workforce Consultant, Pahu Hepana, travelled to Nowra and Canberra recently to attend two Practice Manager (PM) Development Days hosted by COORDINARE

The event brought together 80 practice managers from the south-eastern region of New South Wales to network and hear from key industry representatives including RDN, AVANT, COORDINARE, RACGP, the NSW Ministry of Health Single Employer Program, Blue Point Law, Regional Development SNSW & ACT, and the Welcome Experience.

Pahu described the development days as fantastic and said it was a great opportunity for RDN to be part of.

“It was a fantastic opportunity to engage in in-person discussions about the successes and challenges within general practice,” Pahu said.

“I participated in a panel discussion on International Medical Graduates (IMG) recruitment, where each delegate presented their services and role in the process."

Pahu said the development days were a great chance to provide a visual guide for practice managers, illustrating how all the services fit together.

“A key point emphasised was RDN’s unique position—not as an assessment body within the recruitment process, but as a team of consultants focused on simplifying doctor recruitment,” Pahu said.

“Whether through case management or offering advice, our goal is to make the process easier for practice managers and I hope our involvement left them feeling confident and equipped with the resources available through Rural Doctors Network.”
