Advanced Life Support 1 (ALS 1) Workshop
RDN hosts several Advanced Life Support 1 (ALS 1) workshops for health professionals each year. The intensive workshop is designed to enhance your skills, knowledge, and confidence in managing medical emergencies, particularly cardiac arrest. You will learn to recognise, assess, and immediately manage deteriorating patients using a structured approach.
What does the event cover?
This course is accredited for CPD and PDP with the RACGP and ACRRM and adheres to the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) standards. It covers:
- Recognition and Assessment: Learn to identify and assess critically ill patients using the ABCDE approach to prevent cardiac arrest.
- Airway Management: Develop essential skills for managing patient airways effectively.
- Basic Life Support: Refine your CPR skills and ensure proficiency in basic life-saving techniques.
- Defibrillation: Master the use of both manual and AED defibrillators.
- Cardiac Arrest Management: Implement the ARC ALS algorithm for effective cardiac arrest management.
- Teamwork: Enhance your ability to work effectively within a team during a cardiac arrest scenario.

This workshop is beneficial for a wide range of healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, paramedics, and other healthcare providers who require advanced life support skills.
What does it cost?
There is a registration fee applicable to this workshop.
You may be eligible to apply for funding to support the costs of conference/workshop registration, travel, and accommodation expenses through the Health Workforce Scholarship Program (HWSP).
