Advanced Life Support 2 (ALS 2)
Rural Doctors Network invites you to attend the Advanced Life Support 2 (ALS 2) Workshop being held at Rydges Darling Square, Sydney on Wednesday 25 - Thursday 26 November.
This intensive two-day workshop focuses on developing advanced skills in managing deteriorating patients and cardiac arrest.
This course is tailored for healthcare professionals who utilise these skills in their daily clinical duties or teaching roles. We welcome clinicians working in critical care environments, members of medical emergency teams and paramedics.
To support your preparation, a hardcopy ALS manual will be sent to you in advance, along with an email link to the 120-question pre-course assessment.
Please ensure you complete the assessment before the workshop. As this is an advanced program, proficiency in CPR is a required prerequisite.
The ALS 2 course teaches the knowledge and skills required to:
- Recognise, assess and manage the deteriorating patient using a structured ABCDE approach (aiming to prevent cardiac arrest)
- Treat cardiac and/or respiratory arrest, including manual defibrillation
- Manage life-threatening arrhythmias
- Prepare and plan for post-resuscitation care
- Care for deteriorating patients or patients in cardiac and/or respiratory arrest in special circumstances such as asthma, anaphylaxis and pregnancy
- Lead a team, work as a team member, and use structured communication skills, including giving an effective handover
- Consider end-of-life decision-making
This workshop is fully accredited with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and is accredited for CPD and PDP with RACGP and ACRRM.
This event forms part of Rural Health Month, with a range of related activities and events taking place throughout the month. You may also be interested in attending the Rural GPs Conference, taking place 27-28 November. Information on how to register will be in your confirmation email.
